Connected Professional Learning - All in One Doodle

One district leader lends her design skills to capture the essence of how professional learning fits within system strategy

In December 2017, ERS team members David Rosenberg and Tara Anderson gave a day-long workshop on the elements of Connected Professional Learning at the Learning Forward annual conference.

One participant —Irene Parisi, Assistant Superintendent for Curriculum, Instruction and Professional Learning at Greenwich Public Schools—has a creative and unique way of taking notes. In one "sketch note," below, she captured all of the ideas she learned in the workshop, and then shared the image on Twitter. Reflecting on the workshop, Parisi says:

"What I took away is that having a consistent academic message is key. Your backbone is the curricula. Your professional learning must be anchored in the standards and linked to instructional practices. If they are not, you may not be able to move forward and make change."

Thank you, Irene, for sharing your artwork with us!
