ERS Announces Kaitlyn Chantry as Chief Communications Officer

Education Resource Strategies is excited to announce that Kaitlyn Chantry will be taking on the role of Chief Communications Officer for the organization.
Kaitlyn previously served as Director of Communications for ERS. In her new role, she will continue to lead the amplification of ERS’ mission, expanding the organization’s impact in the field. She brings more than two decades of experience in marketing, communications, and content development.
“I’m grateful for the opportunity to step into this new role at ERS, an organization whose mission and values I deeply believe in,” said Chantry. “Working alongside the incredible team at ERS, I’ve seen how powerful communications can be in helping state, district, and school leaders navigate complexity and drive real change. I’m humbled and inspired to be taking on this role at such a challenging time for public education and honored to help amplify the urgent work our partners are doing every day.”
As Chief Communications Officer, Kaitlyn will continue to play a vital role in connecting ERS to outside partners. She serves as a community member for both the Education Writers Association (EWA) and the National School Public Relations Association (NSPRA), and represents ERS in the Coalition to Reimagine the Teaching Job, a national movement to create the conditions where all K-12 educators can thrive in collaborative and sustainable roles.
Kaitlyn was instrumental in creating ERS’ ESSER Cliff analysis, which revealed which districts were most at risk when federal COVID-relief funds expired. She helped craft ERS’ vision for organizing small schools amidst declining enrollment and budget concerns and co-directed the relaunch of ERS’ popular Budget Hold’em game, an online and physical card game that helps education leaders envision transformational change and the financial trade-offs that can make it possible.
“Kaitlyn brings so much expertise and energy to this critical work,” shared Karen Miles, CEO. “She sets a high bar for us all in creating rigorous, understandable, and engaging tools and insights. We’re so lucky to have her on our team as we engage with more districts, states, and stakeholders than ever to meet this pivotal moment in K-12 education.”
Prior to joining ERS in 2022, Kaitlyn served as Director of Marketing for Year Up United, a national nonprofit that connects young adults with skills training and internship opportunities. Before joining the nonprofit sector, she worked as a journalist for nearly a decade—first as Vice President of Editorial for a division of USA TODAY, then as the Senior Education Editor for The Conversation.
Early in her career, Kaitlyn spent several years teaching at Exploration Summer Programs, while serving year-round in both the Communications and Admissions departments. She has also worked for many years in public schools as a teaching artist and after-school theatre director. Kaitlyn holds a B.A. from Dartmouth College and an Ed.M. from Harvard University’s Graduate School of Education.
