A WBUR story last week highlighted the efforts and successes of the Orchard Gardens Pilot School, located in Boston's Roxbury neighborhood. The school was designated a turnaround school in 2010 after years of low performance.
Learn about the three-pronged approach that Principal Andrew Bott has taken to reform the school. Bott explains that the whole turnaround model was built around people, data, and time. His tactics—and most of the federal grant money—centered around bringing great people into the building and lengthening the school day. His approach is consistent with ERS thinking about turnaround.
Check out our recent briefs for districts on turnaround that goes deeper on this.
