We are honored to have had the opportunity to contribute to a new publication from the Council of Chief State School Officers (CCSSO): Restart and Recovery: Considerations for Teaching and Learning, which is designed to help states as they work to reopen school buildings and set up students and educators for success in the 2020-21 school year.
Our work is represented in the System Conditions section, on which we collaborated deeply with our colleagues at TNTP in particular on helping school districts to answer two sets of questions:
All these documents and tools are openly licensed meaning that state, district, and school leaders should feel free to pick them up and use them as they see fit to create and share reopening guidance - all that's needed is a simple attribution. Much of the content we created as part of this partnership is also available in the school design section of our ERS COVID toolkit.
In addition to the staffing and scheduling considerations, the CCSSO guidance includes tools and customizable guidance on student and staff wellbeing and academic considerations such as curriculum, instruction, assessment and professional learning.
