The Possibilities for District Transformation

Education First releases Districts Rising series showcasing system change

The Possibilities for District Transformation

For the past few years, ERS has been showcasing the possibilities for district redesign through our School System 20/20 case studies and tools.

Education First, KSA Plus Communications, and the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation contributed to the conversation in a big and powerful way this week with the release of the series of briefs called Districts Rising. In this series, Education First profiles 10 public school districts that are implementing big changes and starting to see gains in student achievement. Each brief focuses on one school district. Many of the districts profiled are or have been ERS partner districts, including those in: Aldine, TX; Boston, MA; Cleveland, OH; Washington, DC, and New Haven, CT.

Districts Rising provides well-researched, accessible, and informative examples of the possibilities and importance of system reform. Each portrait, in its own way, reinforces the ERS School System 20/20 message that systems can significantly improve student learning when the right policies, practices, and resource decisions are systematically implemented and continuously refined.

Go deep into the two decade-long transformation journey of Aldine Independent School District (AISD)in ERS’ newest case study, The Rewards of Perseverance.
