Associate Director of School Design & Leadership Development
As an Associate Director, Courtney focuses on school design and leadership development. She executes strategy, facilitates cohort learning experiences, and helps schools and districts reimagine how they “do school”. She also seeks to support and expand ERS’ knowledge and reach internally and externally.
Courtney brings over twenty years of experience in schools, from teaching to administration and in technical assistance, research, and consulting. She began teaching as part of a residency year at Fenway High School in Boston and went on to teach and eventually lead several schools around Massachusetts. She served as executive director of the Sizer School in Fitchburg and most recently as a middle school Principal in Clinton, MA. Prior to that, Courtney spent time as a consultant in a range of roles, supporting turnaround schools, leading Innovation school design, and taking part in a research study for adolescent reading remediation. Along the way she helped design and launch several schools, including an alternative high school in Massachusetts and a City Year middle school in Colorado. She has a passion for school design and systems thinking and carries a deep belief in the power and promise of transformative change.
When not at ERS, Courtney enjoys spending time with her husband and two teenage daughters, attending rowing regattas to cheer on her eldest, and tending to her growing raspberry patch.
