Since joining ERS in 2014, Emily has worked with district leaders across the country, with a focus on realigning their resources to promote equity and student achievement. Her work has taken her to Texas, California, New York State, Tulsa, Baltimore, Charlotte, and Hartford. She managed the team’s work in Dallas to design, implement and improve their intersession model, in Baltimore to get $180M back into their budget from state and city sources and in Hartford to support the new superintendent with a plan to reconfigure the school network and dramatically change the resource environment in which schools operate. Emily is also a leader within the organization, coordinating the organization’s annual retreat and 2-week New Hire Orientation, and supporting organizational development opportunities wherever she can.
Prior to ERS, Emily worked as a high school math teacher and 9th grade dean at the Noble and Greenough School in Dedham, MA. Her interest in education began in rural South Africa where she spent a year teaching at the Tiger Kloof Educational Institute in Vryburg, and a summer working at a Peace Corps site and teaching in the Limpopo province.
