Director, Tools and Technologies
Kristan leads the ERS Technologies Team in its work to create tools that help school systems transform their resource use to achieve dramatically improved student learning. He serves as the product manager for ERS’s Cost Allocation Performance System (CAPS) – ERS’s in-house web-based data analysis platform – and works with the Communications and Consulting teams on the development of online tools that help district leaders identify resource misalignments and craft alternate visions for organizing people, time, and money. Kristan has worked with school leaders and district partner organizations on integrating tools such as ResourceCheck, DREAM, and Hold’em and Hold’em into their resource reallocation work. He also supports the organization’s use of technology tools for improved collaboration and effective knowledge management.
Prior to working at ERS, Kristan was the Director of Technology Initiatives at the Boston Plan for Excellence in the Public Schools (BPE). At BPE he supported Boston’s whole-school improvement initiatives by partnering with the district on the design of its web-based data analysis system, spearheading the development and implementation of formative assessments and companion assessment data analysis tools, designing Microsoft Access-based applications to analyze student formative and summative assessment data, and building knowledge management systems.
Outside of work, Kristan spends his early mornings swimming or running. He and his wife often hike in the New England area and are always looking for fun things to do with their two children outdoors.
