Laurel Bliss

As an Associate, Laurel works with district partners to identify and develop high-impact solutions using data analysis, conceptual thinking, and strategic investigation. Laurel currently works with Indianapolis Public Schools to support school leaders in building schedules that make the teaching job more collaborative, sustainable, and flexible.

Prior to joining ERS, Laurel worked as a researcher in academia and with nonprofits. Most recently, Laurel evaluated program effectiveness for a nonprofit running an adult education program for established small business owners to promote economic mobility and an inclusive economy. Previously, Laurel worked with professors at MIT, conducting rigorous data analysis on systemic voter disenfranchisement and the impact of social media on political attitudes.

Laurel graduated from Tufts University with degrees in Political Science and Civic Studies, an interdisciplinary major that combines critical reflection, ethical thinking, and action for social change. At Tufts, she worked extensively on student voter registration efforts, civic education, research, and community building.

Outside of work, Laurel enjoys listening to podcasts, crafting, bringing people together, and finding the best local spots to eat. Laurel is originally from Atlanta, Georgia, but has come to love living in Cambridge.
