As an associate, Michael has conducted high quality analysis to support his project teams in developing strategic insights for districts. Michael worked on the Texas System of Great Schools team, assisting districts in that state as they considered strategic funding principles and began to redesign their funding systems. He also supported a cohort of districts in Tennessee in preparation for the new statewide funding formula, TISA. Michael is a part of the State Practice Area at ERS where he researches state education policy best practices.
Although originally from Atlanta, Michael came to ERS after completing an MPP from the Harris School at the University of Chicago where he specialized in education and municipal finance. While completing his graduate degree he interned with the Education Trust, researching student safety and well-being. Before Chicago, Michael taught math for three years in Oklahoma City.
Outside of work, Michael enjoys going for runs, discovering new TV shows, and settling into his new home in Boston with his wife and their son on the way.
