ERS Team

Nicholas Timms

Since joining ERS in 2021, Nick has supported various districts with understanding and redesigning their funding allocation models to ensure that the right level of resources are reaching students to meet their needs. This has included:

  • Fairfax County Public Schools, where Nick analyzed staffing allocation formulas for a variety of positions to assess the degree of variation in intended versus actual staffing FTE across the district.
  • Jeffco Public Schools, where a full financial analysis was conducted to support the redesign of the Student-Based Budgeting formula that aligned to new priorities and context for the district.
  • A cohort of districts in Texas, where Nick has led the development of data dashboards on enrollment and funding as part of ERS’ field building work to provide professional development for school finance leaders across the country.
  • Montgomery County Public Schools, where he helped facilitate district leadership understanding of viable resource shifts in their current system, as well as supported school principals in piloting new types of resource flexibilities.

Before ERS, Nick graduated from Pomona College with a B.A. in International Relations. During his time there, he further developed his passion for the education sector through his work in the Office of Admissions and interning at The Constellation Fund.

Outside the office, Nick is an avid aviation geek and enjoys watching planes at airports, staying active with rock climbing or biking, and determining if Boston is a better city than his hometown of Chicago (the evidence so far is uncompelling)
