ERS Team

Ryan Kelly
As a director on ERS’ School Design Practice Area, Ryan partners with district and school leaders to transform how they use their resources—people, time, and money—to better serve students. His work reaches across the system, from the design of individual schools to district-wide organization, finances, and the compensation strategies that shape how educators are recruited, retained, and rewarded, always with an eye toward decisions that districts can sustain over the long term. Ryan previously led ERS’ High School Transformation research team, which produced extensive research-based guidance to help districts restructure resources toward a redesigned high school student experience.
Prior to joining ERS, Ryan served as a math teacher and then middle school principal of Roxbury Prep Charter School, part of Uncommon Schools. He began his career as a teacher in the New Haven Public Schools as a Teach for America corps member. Ryan graduated from Clark University with a B.A. in Political Science and earned his Master of Arts in Teaching from Simmons College. Outside of work, Ryan enjoys crossword puzzles, BBQ, and going on adventures with his wife and two dogs.
