As an Analyst, Simon supports district partner work through quantitative and qualitative data analysis, contextualizing data within the experience of stakeholders in the district, and grounding in lived student backgrounds and outcomes. He currently works on the Montgomery County Schools project, working in concert with the amazing team to help school leaders in Maryland identify and utilize resources to create enduring innovations that support fiscal sustainability and promote equity for all students.
Prior to joining ERS, Simon worked in education in Boston, first as a teacher then in school operations. He uses his background in the classroom and at the school-level to better contextualize the work he does with district partners. Simon has also spent time working with a cohort of teachers for the Massachusetts Department of Education, reimagining standardized testing for future students across the Commonwealth, and for the Harvard Graduate School of Education as a mentor and teacher-coach.
Outside of work, Simon prioritizes time spent outdoors with friends and family. Originally from Hawai’i, he has adapted well to the Northeast and enjoys skiing, hiking, and sometimes even surfing. His favorite activities in Boston are running on the esplanade, grabbing dinner in the North-End, and finding new parks across the city.
