Tomas supports districts make strategic resource decisions through rigorous data analysis, project planning, and collaborative partner relationships. Since joining ERS in 2019, Tomas has partnered with the Dallas Independent School District to support resource equity work and with Baltimore City Schools to develop sustainable networks for school improvement. He also worked to support school systems during the pandemic, structuring new school days in the COVID Comeback Models, determining the full financial impact of COVID in The Cost of COVID, and supporting state-level policy decision making in States Start Here. He continued district support by developing the ESSER Strategy Planner and Spending Calculator.
Prior to ERS, Tomas taught high school math in Milwaukee Public Schools and worked with a local ed tech, STEMHero, to create culturally responsive science and math curriculum. He holds a Bachelor’s and Master’s degree in Industrial and Operations Engineering from the University of Michigan and a Master’s in Education degree from Marquette University.
Outside of work, Tomas enjoys playing soccer, dancing salsa, and learning new songs on the guitar.
