Spending in Philadelphia Schools

Summary of ERS Analysis in the School District of Philadelphia

The following presentation summarizes the findings from our work in the School District of Philadelphia (SDP). We partnered with SDP in the 2014-2015 school year to conduct an analysis of resource use in an environment where spending is decreasing faster than decreases in enrollment. We found that increasing benefits costs have forced the district to make significant cuts across virtually all functions outside of instructional personnel, including critical supports to teachers and principals.
