The number one factor impacting student achievement is teacher quality, and finding, developing, recognizing and retaining great educators is the key to the success of our students and the network as a whole.
Through the eight essentials of effective teaching, a large investment in coaching and over 200 hours per year in activities that help teachers grow, Achievement First provides teachers the support they need to become highly effective educators, and continue to grow their practice every day. As a result, Achievement First has seen strong student gains—the percent of students in the CT middle schools who are proficient doubled from 2008 to 2012, making them comparable to the top 10% of CT districts.
