The Strategic System for Strong Schools is an evolution of our School System 20/20 vision for school systems. It is more than a concept—it includes a diagnostic assessment which we review with district leaders to help them identify changes that will lead to improved student performance. We call that process the Snapshot.
In partnership with the district, we gather high-level data and conduct interviews with a variety of stakeholders. The Snapshot helps us compare the district's resource use policies and practices with successful strategies we've seen in the research literature and in our experience with school systems.
This process builds a rich fact base about how people, time and money are allocated at the system and school level, which can be used to identify next steps in strategic planning, as well as a baseline for future progress.
Some schools beat the odds by “doing school” in new ways. But for every school and every child to thrive, we need to change the odds by creating strategic school systems.
