State Partners

Since 2004, ERS has worked with the leaders of over 100 school systems and several states through data (analysis & benchmarking), design (strategy, resource trade-offs & consensus building) and implementation (planning & monitoring).

We support state leaders specifically by:

  • Designing statewide systems of implementation support for school districts
  • Providing statewide technical assistance to districts on behalf of states
  • Supporting effective monitoring and continuous improvement to assess the success of implementation
  • Translating feedback from districts to states to inform additional lawmaking and implementation
  • Supporting state policymaking by advising on the substance of statutes, regulations, guidance, and funding

Some of our recent state partnerships include:

  • Supporting 60+ districts in Texas through several different projects and cohorts in partnership with the Texas Education Agency (TEA) and Texas Impact Network (TIN)
  • Working with the Nebraska Department of Education to design a state-wide resource to integrate Elementary Scheduling best practices into existing state priorities
  • Providing technical assistance, in partnership with Tennessee State Collaborative on Reforming Education (SCORE), to multiple school districts as they navigate the implementation of the Tennessee Investment in Student Achievement (TISA)

New Resource for State Leaders

Due to the policy, funding, and regulatory levers they have at hand, states are uniquely positioned to provide districts with the resources and tools they need. To learn more, download our new brief, “What States Can Do to Support Districts Through the COVID Recovery Window to Accelerate Student Learning,” which outlines potential actions states can take to support districts as they approach the fiscal cliff in 2024.
